and that is bringing heavy rain in portions of ohio valleys, mississippi valley into parts of texas. good news for texas, not good news for these areas because they have received a lot of rain in the month of november. now, we are talking about 3-6 inches, locally, up to 8 inches possible. that is bringing big time concerns as far as flooding goes. flood watches and some warnings already going up for areas that are starting to see some of that flooding. here is a look at the cold front bringing rain in western parts of ohio and kentucky and tennessee and portions of texas. again this is good news for texas because they are still in that drought. oklahoma, good to see some moisture being brought into that state. as far as snow goes in the rockies, we are talking about more snow over the next 48 hours at times over a foot of it especially along some of the higher elevations. it will be cold enough for some of the snow to make it down into the valleys. this will be posing treacherous traveling conditions for these areas especially monday morning. tomorrow's temperatures, it will be cold one out t

out there. slippery roadways maybe to keep an eye out for. further west, across south texas, we have rain looming. they need the rain across texas. they are in a drought for over a year. any moisture we can get, we will take. though it's not enough to put out of the drought. across the southwest, showers popping up across southern california. that is going to be increasing in coverage. and in intensity. it is windy out there because of the storm system. it's really all we will see. the santa ana winds out there in 70 miles per hour. across southern california. it will be a concern heading to tonight and also in tomorrow. again, it will start to increase in intensity. the storm will lengthen and bring in activity across the southwest. look at snow. across new mexico. colorado or we have seen snow across the ski resort, so more good news for those areas. if you are traveling, careful. it could be impacted. monday night, we look at rain across part of texas, oklahoma, where we need the rain. back side of that, we will get colder. start with snow. we are talking about four to eight inche

flood fears as a huge weather system causing problems from ohio valley to texas. maria is in the weather center. >> we could have a large system we're tracking stretching from texas up to the great lakes. the system is very slow moving system pulling a lot of moisture out of the gulf of mexico. a lot of these rings are heading out. parts of ohio, kentucky, down to tennessee and mississippi and northern arkansas and flood warnings because of the amount of rainfall we'll see from the system, generally speaking 3-6 inches of rain. locally you could get more than that, up to 8 inches are anticipated and another big concern, we have seen a lot of rain along arkansas and kentucky the past month. the month of november was record set are for if some of these cities, now we're looking at major flood concerns. once the ground is saturated more water on on top of that can't absorb it. here is the rain down through western ohio, tennessee and texas and this rain is beneficial for texas, again, gregg, those areas that have seen a lot of rain is not good for them. >> gregg: thanks very much. i'm gregg

of buffalo and light showers in texas. again, we're going to see big time changes and all because of this low pressure system across the southwest that is starting to bring in light showers across the phoenix area and parts of the southern california. as we head into tonight and tomorrow, this system is going to get its act together and pulling a lot of moisture and cold air. we'll start to look at potential blizzard conditions for northeast new mexico all the way up to western portions of kansas. we do have advisories issued with a lot of snow in the forecast for those areas, that includes the texas panhandle and oklahoma panhandle up to 18 inches of snow could fall. of course, with a blizzard it's not the amount of snow but the winds and those cold temperatures. wind gusts up to 45 miles per hour. very significant blowing and drifting. there are a number of blizzard watches across northeast new mexico and oklahoma panhandle and with the same storm system on the warm side of it, very strong thunderstorms with potential for severe weather across texas and also parts of southwestern louisiana

texas, light showers, not enough to get us out of a drought but we will take it. whenever we can take it. across the southwest, look at that upper-level low pressure disthat is starting to spin right now. light showers across southern parts of california. as you head into the next seven days, it will started to intensify and move into the center of the country. we are looking at thunderstorm systems, strong winds across southern california. some of the reports coming out of thursday and friday across the area, 78 mile-an-hour wind gusts in southern california. a lot of wind with the storm system. and pretty quiet across most of the country, as we head into sunday and monday, that storm system is going to start to intensify heading to the four corners region. more snow in colorado and good for the ski resorts. not good for traveling or shopping. by monday across the center of the country, much colder air in the plains, snow in kansas and texas and panhandle and rain across central texas. >> heather: got to have that snow for santa because he is on his way. >> gregg: troubling new times fo

that we're going to be getting. in parts of southern texas that is bshlt but storm system that we'll be watching as we head into monday and tuesday that will be bringing in very heavy rain across southern california and more snow across the southern rockies. yes, more beneficial for those that do like to ski. here is a look at current rainfall across southern texas. good news for them. we're talking about maximum amounts of two inches. not huge flood threat. in the great lakes, lake effect snow, most of that is winding down. lake effect snow warnings across parts of lake ontario and that will be affect throughout the day as we are expecting a little bit more snow. three to six inches over the central plateau. ten inches possible but that is isolated. this will be very small strip just north of syracuse. as we head in tomorrow, temperatures will be near normal across the country. it's a little chilly. high temperature of 50 over in kansas city and for us, 39. it will be a chilly one. >> gregg: it could be worse, it could be below zero. all right. maria, thanks very much. you know w
